One thing no-one mentions about WFH....

(work from home)
... is the problems it causes with other household activities. When J is working, I can't clean. Laundry is iffy - no putting blankets in the dryer because the dryer balls make too much noise, sweeping is distracting, vacuuming is way too noisy, etc. One reason I do the grocery shopping on Friday is that he takes Friday off so he can use up his vacation time. Admittedly, now that he's moved upstairs, I can work in the basement, but that's been made difficult by the cranky shoulder, and the fact that it's been months since I've been down there, and I just don't know where to start.
So he's gone for a bit (who knows how long -- doing a medical shuttle run from Laurium to Traverse City for Reasons I do not really care about -- theoretically back this evening, but we all know the difference between theory and practice*), and I've been cleaning. whee? Tomorrow, it should be warm enough to work outside, but 45F (7C) and damp or rain is just not weather to work outside in.
I found the camping dishpan out in the garage with motorcycle stuff in it. And he claimed he'd not moved it. sigh. (I often use it as a soaking basin for finished knits, because it's just the right size for many of the things I make. I'd been using a plastic storage bin for the last few months, since he sorted the storage room, but I didn't like it.)
Bird migration season has started - the birdseed level in the feeders has been lower in the mornings than it's been since July (when it's parents teaching the littles where to find food & water). The red-bellied woodpecker was at the feeder this morning, getting his seed and flying off to the tree to break it open. I haven't seen other fall/migrating birds, but I haven't been looking as much as usual, since J's now using the den (with the view of the backyard) as his office
Got my election worker schedule yesterday. 6am call. I do not know why. We had a couple of hours of downtime last election, and the only reason we ran late is that they discovered a procedural problem after we'd processed everything, and we had to invalidate the first set of results and rescan everything. If they'd not done the Stupid Thing, we'd have been out by 10pm.
{*In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice.}
Also, my mother just shared this with me, and I must do the same: "Here we are in the fourth quarter of 2020. Gosh, I hope we're playing the Lions." (SE Michigan joke. The Detroit Lions are well known for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I expect I'll tell it on election day -- some fellow workers are football fans.)
