Well, that happened fast.

There is a solid layer of ice on the pond, although the rill isn't frozen over yet. We're getting a cold blast of air, and it's not been above freezing since Wednesday. Supposed to warm up enough over the weekend that we can pull the pump out of the pond and drain (and put away) the garden hoses, and then get cold again. As in, January cold. Highs in the 20sF (-3 to -6C) for the next week or so. Soooo glad I don't have kids in the marching band anymore.

I dumped my garden hoses in the depth sink in the heated garage. Lazy.

If I had a deep sink in a heated garage, I'd have done the same. But I don't. The hoses were a bit hard to coil up, but they did drain nicely. It hadn't dropped below freezing since Friday night, and there'd been sun on Saturday, so there wasn't any ice in the hoses.
