and now it's winter.
Feb. 5th, 2021 11:47 am(I know, right? It's only February...) 3-4 inches of drifty snow last night - fortunately, it stayed cold enough that it didn't turn to rain in the wee hours, but it was a fairly wet snow with temps right around freezing. And now it's going to get cold for a week or so. Like 10 degrees below average cold. And windy! Time to deploy the warm gloves and jacket (I've been layering under the not-really-warm jacket, but that stops working when it's below 20F/-6C). I shoveled the top part of the driveway this morning, dodging J as he cleared snow off the solar panels. He went out around 11 to see if he could clear any snow off the panels on the other side of the garage, and shortly gave up - the snow on that side got packed down by the wind, and the wind makes maneuvering the snow rake difficult. So he shoveled the straight part of the driveway instead.
Errands yesterday because I really didn't want to *have* to go out today. A couple of extra stops - finally remembered to put the bags for the Salvation Army into the car on a day they were open, and a stop at the shoe repair place for insoles for the new boots - the arch support is fine, but they tip my whole foot just a bit more than I'm comfortable with. Then to Costco (veg, snax, frozen breakfasts), and Meijer (the rest of the stuff). Same gaps in the freezer cases, and some of produce section is sparse, but I got apples and oranges. No peppers though, as they didn't have any that looked good.
I also stopped at the furniture store in town to see what they had in the way of living room chairs, as the one I've been using is, um, not good. To be fair, I bought it as an inexpensive chair a couple of years ago, intending it to be an occasionally used chair, but due to the house rearrangement it's turned into my main chair, and it's just not built for that. Found a nice one for a not-quite-ridiculous price (still less than Ethan Allen would charge for a similar chair, and a much better chair than the cheap places (Value City, Gardner-White) have at any price). Brought home a couple of upholstery samples, and the verdict is "neither". Will go back tomorrow for different samples. The manufacturer doesn't have their current (2021) upholstery lineup on their site, which is somewhat annoying.
