Oooops. Overdid it. Bad Jenn.
sigh. hopefully, it's a very short setback.
See, I forgot that I had choir practice tonight. So I went to the gym yesterday, and in addition to doing my pool work, I went and worked out on the floor. I did light weights, and only a few exercises, but I noticed it today. Nothing really hurt, just the 'you did something' feeling.
Then I went off to that choir practice that I forgot about. Music Sunday is this coming Sunday. The chorus is doing three numbers, and there's a woodwind trio that I'm in. Ow. I could feel it in my abdominal muscles halfway through the second time through the second song. And the third song hits the top end of my range. And then we have to be 'intense' at 'very soft'. (fortunately, that part isn't quite so high, because otherwise, it's just not gonna happen.) That takes lots of breath control. Which means lots of diaphragm/abs.
Then the trio practiced. I play flute. My part is at the very bottom of the range. It's hard to hit those notes; takes lots of (guess what!) breath control. By the time we were done, I hurt. Oy. I was limping across the church to my stuff. I've not done that since surgery. Not good. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. Will go nest now, and relax before bed.
SR is rather geeked. The Concert Band is working on their MSBOA Festival piece, and the director is fine-tuning their "pick a piece" selection. He's decided that rather than have the entire section play, he's going to have one person from each part do it; and she's been picked from her part. And so it begins. She's already learning the difference between technical ability and performance ability. This is good.
