Sep. 11th, 2022 11:21 amthere was a FCB board meeting last week. I trundled off to it, even though I'm not technically *on* the board. I'm an employee(!) of the band (I get a stipend that basically pays for gas), but I get to vote, and the exec board wants me there for discussions, since I'm often the one implementing things. There is a schedule - rehearsals start tomorrow! There are no conflicts with Livingston through May, so I guess I'll be doing both. Whether I'll be on tenor for all of Livingston's season remains to be seen. Livingston's first rehearsal was last Tuesday, and I flailed a lot more than I expected to -- I had a hard time wrapping my brain around "you're playing countermelody, not bass line".
I have been doing a little bit of weeding, but after the wet in the first couple weeks of August, we've not really gotten any rain, so the weeds are breaking off at the surface, which doesn't really help.
My preferred insulated mug became unusable a couple of weeks ago (the plastic on the outside degraded to the point where it was cracking *and* sticky). I've been on a hunt for a replacement (I can't find this style any more), and it's annoyingly difficult to find one. I have one that holds the heat well, but it's a little bit too large in diameter and is uncomfortable in my left hand. There was one in the basement that's a better size, but the tea is cold by the time I get to the bottom of the mug, and that's worse. The one I'm auditioning today is a good size, and the tea seems to stay warm long enough (only one mug of tea through it so far, and the first mug goes faster than the second one), but the lid is flatter so it's harder to drink out of.
(in other news, the cinnamon roll from the bakery was not very good. sigh. I still need to find a bakery that does a good cinnamon roll.)
