Bands vs. weather 1-2 (1)
Jun. 30th, 2026 05:43 pmThe LCCB concert scheduled for tonight was cancelled before noon today. Heat Index was above 100F at the venue already, and there's not a lot of shade there.
However, things are currently looking just fine for the rescheduled FCB concert next Monday evening. The heat is supposed to break and the rain be done by then. There are rumors of a sight-read piece for the concert, but MR (the arranger) assures us that we can do it. There's also a Euphonium feature of the Faygo song. I have sent the words off to BM so that she can drop them into the reminder email on Sunday.
Today was the first day that we got ballots back, and there's already been three people who didn't sign their envelopes. So back into the mail they go, with bright sticky note on them "sign here". Sigh. Friday, J and I spent some time figuring out why the thing that used to work didn't now. We fixed it and made it work, but I'm not entirely sure why the fix worked. The driver that we had to uninstall was there when we had the printer working before, but something changed in the setup so that it had to be "not there", not just "not running". ::shrug:: Thursday, we need to figure out who we've got to work the election. A lot of people have said no, or not August, and DC hasn't been poking people who didn't respond. We may be understaffed, but I think there will still be enough -- we just won't have the usual reserves.
