jennlkTwo outdoor concerts this week. It was hot for both of them. The concerts were Tuesday and Thursday, nicely bracketing the really hot Wednesday. Tuesday's concert was hotter than Thursday's, mostly because it was significantly more humid on Tuesday. Both concerts went about as well as you'd expect, based on not-very-many-rehearsals and many people (me included) having missed rehearsals. Repertoire is significantly easier for the summer, but there's still a lot of music there, and there were a lot of transitions that were not well executed.
J did not come to the Tuesday concert (he doesn't come to the LCCB summer concerts. He rarely comes to the formal concerts anyway, so this is not a surprise.) I didn't know if he was going to be at the FCB concert on Thursday until he came up afterwards. He was late, as usual, because he ran errands on his way home from work, and he says he'd just walked into the house when his "leave for concert if you're going" alarm went off. I was long gone by then, as I needed to be there an hour before call in order to do setup. (That was the theory. In practice, I spent an hour on northbound US 23 inching past an accident. I texted BM at one point "I see the wreck! ETA 25 minutes.") Jebra got a cheer from some of the band (french horns and tubas) when he pointed out at the end of the FCB concert that "we've done an entire concert in the park without doing a Sousa march". "yet." sigh -- we closed out the concert with the Stars and Stripes Forever, as we almost always do.
I'm still waiting for J to clear up K's debris field upstairs so I can work up there. There's trash on the floors, the bed's not made, the bathroom is a mess, the huge TV from his basement lair is in the middle of the room, etc. He said he'd do it on Tuesday, but that didn't happen. Wednesday was VS, and friends are more important than the house. Thursday was the FCB concert. He's taking Fridays off, but right now he's out mowing the lawn.
I got a little bit of weeding done this week, but I can't weed on FCB days (at least not if I want to be able to move the next day), and it got hot quickly on Wednesday. Once J gets done mowing the lawn, I can go weed. But I haven't been to the grocery store in a couple of weeks, so I need to do that!
