The Livingston concert on Sunday went pretty well. In general, the Livingston band is very good at what they do, which is stuff that a good high school band will do. (And to be fair, I've heard a lot of high school bands that would struggle with the things that Livingston plays. And many would struggle with doing a 75 minute concert....) I did not flub the solo too badly - and at least I was in time and musical with the flub, so there's that. Tonight's rehearsal was cancelled because of a water main break at the school building where we rehearse. Oh well. Gives me more time to tape together my music. And tomorrow, I head up to a shop in Okemos with the hope that they'll be able to get the tenor tuned up by next week's rehearsal. The tech I talked to was a little concerned that the horn had sat in the case for a decade, but I think he'll be pleasantly surprised - it was clean and dry when put away, and it's been stashed in a living area, not an attic or damp basement. (one problem with living here- there's no good wind repair shop anymore. It's 45 minutes to a good shop, in any of three directions. Carty's used to be in Ypsi (we bought SR's saxophone there), but they closed 15 years ago, and nobody's stepped in to that niche.)

Last night's Farmington rehearsal was at a small church down the street, as there was a Orchestra concert at our usual rehearsal venue. Set up went pretty well - the staff at the church had set up the offset columns that we use for spacing, and that's about three quarters of the work. Then it's just a matter of dropping seat markers onto chairs and removing unused chairs. Short rehearsal, as the first rehearsal after a concert usually is. I hear that the FCB Halloween concert went pretty well, if sparsely attended (a goodly proportion of their usual audience is from senior housing or adult foster care, and I bet that most of them stayed home).

We got nearly three inches of rain from mid afternoon Sunday to sunset Monday. It fell steadily, so there was no real problem with washouts/flooding, but with the ground already pretty much saturated, it will take a while for me to be able to step into gardens. I weeded one of the strawberry beds today, because I don't have to step into it to reach the middle.
