Wheee! We've survived another Berzerker. I'm tired of driving -- we put about 1700 miles on the van this trip. We stopped at the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point and took the Pictured Rock cruise. I strongly suggest doing the cruise on a sunny afternoon -- the colors in the rocks just pop and shine.
Berzerker was fun, as usual. Stuff blew up, stuff didn't blow up, J's trebuchet was a very good group engineering project, and actually worked! Lots of thermite -- I think I heard that McKana was going to go out and poke at the big pile somewhere around Wednesday or so. I was able to actually wander around on the Sands this year, which was kind of nice. I still didn't go far, and stayed close to the pavilion at night. My back is crinching, but it's a good crinch. (I hope!)
The grey cat is still breathing, and grumpy about the cold she has. The other cats were annoyed that we picked up the dog on the way home.
SR has probably finished HP:DH by now -- she had about 70 pages left about 90 minutes ago. She read almost all the way down. (She's currently hiding in her room, reading DH, and her email, and hiding from the rest of us.) And DB was reading his Dangerous Book for Boys, and J was reading HP:HBP. I was driving the reading car!
The pond was down about 4 inches, the tomatoes are flourishing (in about a week, I'll have more than I can eat), the peas have made an arch (not that they were supposed to, but the two rows kind of fell in on each other, and wrapped around). The corn has tasseled, for all that it's barely 5 feet tall. So we'll only get a couple of ears per plant. Should still be more than enough, as long as the deer don't get any. The strawberry plants are very happy, too.
(* -- there is a Pictured Rocks Cruise line webpage, but I like this one better.)

Date: 2007-07-24 02:35 pm (UTC)We had a few corn plants appear in the freshly dug side garden without planting any. Two of them have tasseled but the tallest is about 3-4 feet tall. No sign of any ears yet though.
