A "reprieve" from winter

It's raining. and blowing. I mean, I guess it would be worse if it was snowing and blowing, but it wouldn't be quite so dismal out there -- at least the snow would be covering up the dead grass and the mud.
The farmer came through and got the soybeans in the fields behind the house a couple of days before the snow. He
cut them really short this year - all the bean fields around here were practically scalped. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I'm so far out of the loop on farming best practice..... The corn fields across the street didn't get done until the middle of last week - they had to wait for the snow to melt and the field to dry out enough that the combine wouldn't get stuck.
We had pretty decent weather for the last few days, so we got the willow leaves raked up so they wouldn't smother the grass; and then I cut back everything but the sage in the driveway garden, and did the daisy stems/goldenrod/peonies in the E garden.
I did the weekly grocery run yesterday after LCCB rehearsal, as I wasn't able to do it during the day on Tuesday. I don't get to the Meijer in Howell often enough to be familiar with it, and I kept wandering the aisles looking for things. I didn't get everything on my list (one I just plain missed, a couple they didn't have), but there's nothing I'll need to buy before next Monday.
A really intense series of rehearsals this week -- both bands are getting into the details of the concert pieces, so there's lots of repetitions of small sections and working on picky bits. There's some tricky bits that I need to practice!
