in which I mutter about kids these days

So, I've been doing the newsletter for the school music boosters for the last decade-plus, the last few because they couldn't find anyone else willing to do it. Last weekend, I realised that the first concert of the season was coming up RSN, and I hadn't heard *anything* from them about having a newsletter ready.
So I emailed people on Monday. Today (Thursday) I got a response. "We got a late start on it, and didn't want to bother you on short notice." Gosh, thanks. You didn't think to let me know?
And they've decided to change the newsletters, making them more school specific. Which means that rather than doing one newsletter (4-page in the fall, 2-page at Holiday, two 6-page) 4 times a year they'll be doing a 4-page and a 2-page version 4 times a year, and another 2-page twice a year. This is going to save them money, they claim.
And now they're talking about going electronic. gaaah. Because everyone has internet and/or a smartphone, right? (Yes, I know everyone reading this does. But there are people in the district who do not have anything faster than dialup.) And is willing to go to a FaceBook page to read a newsletter (not me!). Nevermind that the Boosters have had electronic distribution of their newsletters (mailing list and web-posting) for seven or eight years. And a crappy record of keeping up a website - they lost two domains due to not renewing the registration, rarely updated the page they had on the school site before those, and the bare-bones FB page is still showing info from May (the church FB page is better/more up to date than the Boosters page, which is a sad commentary on something). Theoretically, the newsletter is supposed to be posted on the FB page, but I see no signs of it anywhere. I know I sent the files off to the FB administrator.
But they've got anothersucker volunteer to do the newsletter, so I'm going to let her do it.
Good riddance, I say.
