Tuesday evening in Hartland. A decent-ish concert in the park. The audience may have outnumbered the musicians, but not by much, and I think it's the smallest the band's been all summer.
Ghod I hate playing in picnic pavilions -- the lighting is bad and the sound isn't very good. This one is worse than many, as it's got an actual flat ceiling under the peaked roof, which bounces the sound straight down, where it bounces off the concrete floor. And the lights come on automatically, and since picnics require less light than concerts, they came on just as we were finishing up.
Hartland Township park, right next to the township hall. Dirt parking lot, but a nice pavilion, flush toilets in the restroom, and a quite nice playplace rightnext to the pavilion. Gas is expensive in Hartland (.20/gal higher than the station on the corner).
It was me and one tuba against the band (two other tubas were on vacation, the bass clarinet and bassoon players were also not there). There were a few pieces I was sightreading. Not my favorite thing to do. (
mrs_sweetpeach will be amused to hear that we did the Dam Busters March.)
