So it was a weekend. There was a con. I talked to people I haven't seen since last year, and met some new people (waves to new people!). (Note to self: ask head football coach to -not- make playoffs next year.) SR went to her concert Friday, and enjoyed it. She says that the band director was teasing the student who is head theater tech by telling him that he should do the Chelsea auditorium up like Orchestra Hall. heh. The first time I went to a concert at Orchestra Hall it had just been opened to the public -- must have been 1977 or so, and it wasn't anywhere near as pretty as it is now. The fancy plaster work was gone in a lot of places, most of the gilding was gone, the balcony was closed for safety reasons as were the boxes, the seats were uncomfortable, etc, but the acoustics were terrific.

We saw a really neat sun-dog on the way to Cap on Friday...just as we crossed into IL, a cloud picked up the sun so that there was a very bright half-rainbow on the cloud, and it lasted for about fifteen minutes. SR dug out a pair of my sunglasses so she could see it better. Of course, we didn't have a camera. If we had, you know we wouldn't have seen it in the first place. Had an incident with the handtruck I'd asked John to put in the van -- neither one of us checked the tires, and they were flat-flat-flat-flat-flat. sigh. So I had to find a bellman on Friday night. Oy. Other than that, it was a very quiet con. SR shadowed me almost the entire weekend. No, I don't know why she decided to do that. Dinner Saturday night was good, and there was much laughter and conversation. Next year I need to remember my semaphore flags, though. Or maybe bring my phone -- it was a long way down to the other end of the table. :) For once, actually got enough sleep at a con. Some of that was certainly because I didn't have a dog or a cat pinning me in place or shoving me out of the way or stealing my blankets so I slept better than I often do at home, but it was also the only way I could get SR to get enough sleep....

Today I ran errands and baked. I missed SR's pre-Festival concert tonight, because I really needed to go to rehearsal. He's got a fairly ambitious program set up for us, and I've never played any of it (at least not on this horn -- one piece we played today I played on flute umpteen years ago, but at this point I couldn't tell you which band I was in at the time). I guess this means that I really ought to go to the Festival performance in March.
