"I'll have to check. We've been having a run on baris lately" heh.

SR and I went out running errands today, and stopped by Anderson Music in Dearborn. Just for the heck of it, I asked if they had any bari saxes in stock. Turns out they did. One. A Buescher 400, completely rebuilt, *not* relacquered, new case. Under $3K. I'm in love. It plays so easy and sweetly. (well, as sweetly as a 6 foot truncated cone of metal can.) And it just slides into the low notes.... {See, there's two tenor saxes in FCB. I'm going to switch after the Winter concert.} SR tried, and she can't play it. It's too big, takes too much air, and the finger angles are all wrong. It just fits me, though.

We stopped at IKEA on the way home. SR found her Halloween costume -- a six foot long stuffed drake. She's going to be a dragon taming princess. :) I got a snake, so that if I can't come up with any other costume ideas I can be a snake tamer, although I'm not sure how well that will work with a tenor sax for the Halloween concert. Maybe I'll drape it over my chair and just rest the snake head on my left shoulder.

Very cool. I look forward to hearing its sweet, dulcet tones in due time.

You need to put just the end of the tail in the bell of the horn--so it looks like the snake is coming out of the sax.

Oooh ooh, not a snake tamer, a snake *charmer*! You need to have the snake coming straight out of the bell like the snake is dancing to the music!
