Notes on notes:
Fairly hard FCB rehearsal on Monday - you'd think we had a concert coming up. Added 'fun' for this summer is that we need to bring our own stands to concerts, as we will not have access to the racks of stands that we usually do. We have five performances between now and the end of July. Tonight's gig has already been moved inside, due to cool temperatures (predicted high is 58F/16C) and the possibility of rain. The fact that the park got an inch of rain last night was probably also a factor, as the amphitheater hillside will be slippery and possibly muddy.

First LCCB concert in the park on Tuesday. Nice new space in Brighton, other than the fountain behind us making it hard to hear the director. I just lurve sightreading concerts, I do. There's a lot of music in the LCCB folders, but their definition of "ready to play" is nowhere near DC's. Next week's performance list includes a few pieces that I've never played. They do a quick 30 minute 'work on the tricky bits' rehearsal before the concert actually starts, but.... I know what I'll be working on this weekend. (it didn't help that one of the pieces we did on Tuesday is one I've done with the FCB, and the LCCB takes it at a different tempo. Flubbed the ending in rehearsal, but managed to get it in performance, so there's that. Another one I did in college, on tenor sax, which was a bit confusing.) Their summer season runs through mid August, at various town parks in Livingston County.

The all-day rain on Sunday flattened the blooming peonies. Most of the stems didn't break, but there's a lot of drooping flowers out there. Last night's rain didn't help that at all. The pink ones haven't bloomed yet, so they're still fairly straight up -- their stems aren't as long, either. I did manage to get out to that garden and pull at least some of the weeds and grass, so it looks a bit better. Eventually, it will stop raining long enough that I can walk into the garden and get the weeds in the middle. There's a lot of weeding to do in the geranium bed up front, too, but see prior comment about rain.

The wildflowers are starting to bloom; the orange lilies have buds on them;, the large alliums are done blooming and have seedheads, as do the bleeding hearts; there are berries on the strawberry plants but they're not ripe yet. (Usually, we get berries on Mum's birthday, but we had a cool and rainy spring. I expect a few berries tomorrow, unless they've been beaten into the ground by the heavy rain we got last night.)
