it was a concert
Mar. 5th, 2019 10:53 amMW and I faked it through die hebriden. It's not easy, he's not primarily a sax player, I am still limited in practice time (currently at 15 minutes/day; OT says I can go to 20 next month). (We did not play it as fast as this version. They also rehearsed it a lot more than we did. Also note that this is a symphony arrangement, as I couldn't find the newer Woodwind Choir arrangement that we played.) I think the judges would have given us a solid II, maybe even a II+ if they were being charitable due to missed rehearsal time due to weather.
The second half of the concert went better than the first - in general, we are much more familiar with the music we played, having played them at least once in the last 10 years. Or they were easier, like the quite nice arrangement of Auld Lang Syne we played to close the last concert we'd ever play at Harrison HS. They tell us that we'll be at North Farmington HS this summer and next year. After that, we don't know.
The band VP is still saying that she wants me up with the saxes/low winds in the layout. But there's still not room in that row, unless we're down a couple of french horns and a couple of saxes permanently.
In spring news, I saw/smelled 3 dead skunks on the way from rehearsal on Friday. I also got a mild whiff of skunk in the backyard yesterday. There was a crocus blooming last week - in the sun, right up against the foundation where it's nice and warm.
