Monday - Wednesday, it was hot and humid (OK, hot for fall - nearly 80F), and then Wednesday night a front came through and the temperatures plummeted (75F at sundown, 60 at midnight, 52 at dawn, 48 when I got back from erranding). BRR. I turned the heat on for Thursday evening, and it came on Friday morning to get the house back up to 67F (and I had closed the house up because it was still 95% relative humidity, and who needs that kind of moisture/damp inside?) This morning when I went out to feed the birds there was nearly half an inch of ice on the birdbath. Not a lot of frost, but that's because the dew point is well below freezing and thus there's not a lot of moisture to freeze onto things.

I spent part of Sunday afternoon playing with J's extractigator tree puller -- there were saplings in a number of gardens that I wanted gone, and J's been too busy to deal with them. It's kinda fun! I did have one baby tree that I had to do some shovel work around in order to get it out, and one where the trunk broke before the roots let go. I'll have to go after that one with a shovel later this week when it warms up a bit.

The newsletter is off to the printer, so it is no longer my problem. :)

The black cat is sleeping on the bed, the grey cat is sleeping in the sunbeam in the den. I'm going to go down to the workroom and finish cutting out a Halloween shirt (to wear to the library!) and a fall weight jacket.
