the next match is scheduled for July 9. The last time we tried to play at this venue, it was so hot that we played inside. Upstairs on the atrium balcony, pretty much surrounding the conductor, with the audience on the main floor. They could hear us just fine. :)
I've been pulling weeds a lot. So far, I have taken care of much of the grass and weeds in the prairie bed and the East garden (leaving the sea of milkweed and sea holly alone, because something in that area of the garden gives me welts that take five weeks and two predisone tapers to get rid of). I have also cleared a lot of brambles & grass out of the garden next to the side door. Tomorrow, I will head out to the lily & geranium garden in the NE corner of the yard, assuming it doesn't rain all day. I may make a start on it this evening, now that dinner is done.
Today I ran errands, including running lunch to DB who discovered this morning that he was working til 3, not noon (schedule changed sometime late Monday and he didn't get the message until this AM). I missed one errand, though -- there's still a bag of books to go to the used book sale at the library. I did cull the herd a bit while I was putting books back on the shelves in the upstairs library. I even managed to put a box of books from the Great Library Re-Arrangement of 2014 (where we lost 30 linear feet of shelf) back on the shelves.
I have heard a couple of frogs out in the field, but none in the pond. I have hopes that we'll get some sometime this summer, but it seems as though the ones overwintering in the pond froze. :( The hummingbirds are back, although they haven't started defending the feeders yet.
