Summer concert season, 1-1
Jun. 18th, 2018 02:32 pmIn the annual FCB Concert Band vs Weather matches, the record for the 2018 season is now even.
Thursday night's Stars in the Park concert was very nearly perfect, weatherwise. We had temps in the mid 70s (F), sunny, low humidity, and a very mild breeze, just enough to keep the bugs down. The band was a bit sloppy in places. Ooops.
Sunday's concert was cancelled sometime around noon on Friday, shortly after the Weather Service posted a High Heat Advisory for the weekend. The forecast was calling for air temps in the 90s with enough humidity that it would feel like it was in the high 90s. And there's no shade in the area where we were playing, and the breeze off the river can only do so much.
So Sunday we stayed home and built the last two bookshelves and loaded the books back on. It was hot, and I'm very glad that I didn't have to play a concert that afternoon. I'm not quite done loading books, but I'll finish that this afternoon.
J and DB wandered off to buy a motorcycle on Friday (ostensibly, DB went with to drive the car home while J rode the bike, but DB wanted to see the shinys). It's J's, but DB says he's going to ride it too -- and bought gloves and a helmet while at the shop, and has signed up for the motorcycle riding course at WCC. I think his helmet is too small, but he wanted the blue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I picked about a half-pint of strawberries this morning, and promptly ate many of them. :)
