SR went out the door this morning, got three steps into the yard, and stopped. Took a big breath, and said "I love the smell of spring". heh
I've got the back door open (screen closed!) and both cats are lolling about in the airstream. The birdies are being very noisy.
The dog dug up something in the front flower bed. I think she was just chasing a squirrel, but she did a number on a couple of plants in there. I think it was just this morning, as the dirt was still moist. I tucked them back in, sprinkled a little water on them. we shall see if they make it.
I cleared the annual stems out of the bed next to the deck, and found a couple of sprouty things. Dunno what they are, but they're not grass (they're still at the unrecognisable-unless-you-know-what-seeds-you-put-there stage). I'll let them grow and see what happens. I also found one of the cat's hang outs -- there's a flattened spot right up against the (volunteer) catnip. hee.
I did my daily 15 minutes of weeding -- today's patient, the strawberry bed, of which I got about 6 feet done. I really wish J had listened to me last fall when I asked him to walk the row and move the runners back into the center (this was September/October, when I was helping Mum move, and was thus stiff and creaky for a month or so, and not able to do it myself). The runners are scattered over a 5-6 foot width. Maybe this weekend after it rains I can move the outliers. There are plenty of new crowns, although the ones that we planted last year are dead. So a very light crop, if any. (Which is about what I expected -- we moved the crowns at a less than optimal time to actually get berries this year, but as long as they don't die entirely....)
Blocking (a sweater body and a small wrap) await, as does the laundry.
