Oct. 15th, 2007 12:39 pmSo, survived one weekend. Spent more waking time at my mother's house than I did my own, but the kids seem to have survived. Picked up a few more tchotchkes, J disassembled the large oak desk that belonged to my grandfather and packed it into the van (it's currently still in there, as it was wet Sunday afternoon), talked to more of their friends. One of them (P) brought her sister out (M had never met Dad, but has met Mum a few times). P said to her sister at one point "you never met Dee. Just watch Jenn. That's Dee." Mum always told me I thought like him, but I didn't realise I echoed him so much.
The packing is pretty much under control, so unless I hear from Mum I won't be going out there again until Friday. Just as well, as my week is already pretty well booked. And then Sunday is a flying trip to South Haven for a 80th b-day party for my MiL. J's going over on Saturday, and I'll be zipping over with the kids on Sunday. In time for church at 10 am, ideally.
Picked up my new car on Saturday, as well. Stopped by 'Clave for a few hours, getting there 15 minutes into SpaceTime, thus missing most of that crowd. Spent some time in the GT room, and some in the DI suite (did anybody ever figure out what that Czech spiced liqueur was (well, besides very good?)). Choir Sunday morning went fairly well. Then rehearsal (at which I was heard to say "I don't care which one of those we sing. Just tell me which one and which part, and I'll sing it"), and back out to Mum's. Well, once I let Casey bark at the new car -- she had a *fit* when this strange car zipped into the driveway, although she mellowed when it went into the garage. (yeah, I know. but it is a pretty zippy car -- especially compared to a 7 year old minivan.)
