Wow. That's a -nice- mouthpiece! The C* I ordered showed up Saturday, while I was at ConFusion. I played it last night at rehearsal. As SR says, it takes the good notes and makes them better, and makes the less-good notes a lot better (she got one for Christmas, with strict injunctions to -not- use it for marching band). It made a noticeable difference in the tone of my horn, which wasn't bad to start with. Of course, it probably helped that I moved off the soft beginner reeds as well (hey, I hadn't played -any- sax for over 10 years, and hadn't played bari for 20+). Having the instrument stand made rehearsal easier, as well; even though we had a split rehearsal -- the first half of it we spent working with the Harrison band on the pieces we're doing together. SR pointed out that it wasn't generally considered a good idea to change m'piece and reed just before a concert, but I countered with the fact that I've played sax nearly as long as she's been alive, and I can deal with the change. (actual years playing sax = 4(hs)+5(Tech)+3(after college)=12, SR=15)

'Fusion went fine, mod an aggregation of assumptions that caused a few problems, but nothing major. Sunday morning was somewhat amusing, as I knew I was making a run to the airport, the only questions were when, who, and how many. The cancellation of most flights to/through Chicago led to some rearranging of flight schedules. The process was an iterative series -- as people's flights changed, the passenger count changed as well. I did have an upper limit of 3, though, due to the GT party boxes in the back seat.
