We achieved Gluttony Society levels of food at Thanksgiving. And M (my sister in law) got stuck with most of the leftovers. J invited the family to T'giving dinner at his brother's house. For 20 (including three toddlers). (See, the rest of his family all live on the other side of the state, and Mom would be the only one to come to dinner at our house.) A small-ish turkey, a Dearborn ham half, a chunk of venison, sweet potato casserole, cornbread with creamed corn, cooked carrots, green salad, two kinds of cranberry sauce, homemade rolls. one stuffing, one dressing, a huge pot of mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, baby carrots. Plus apple and pumpkin pies, mince tarts, cookies, and R's Dirt Trifle for dessert.

None of it fancy-dancy, but mostly good. The turkey was tender and moist -- I guess finishing it off with 90 minutes at 200F in the roaster was a good idea (that wasn't in the plan, but the thermometer popped two hours before we'd scheduled dinner). Most people didn't even try the apple-cranberry dressing I made, although one of the toddlers decided that the apples in it were the best thing he'd ever had, and ate pretty much only the apples. I brought home my leftovers, although some of the meat got claimed. M kept trying to get me to take more food, but I managed to get out of the house with nothing extra other than some rolls and some of the trifle. I didn't mind taking the leftover ham.

And soon we're out to my folks' for a gathering. SR's birthday was yesterday, and we haven't seen my folks since Labor Day or so. Mom is planning on serving our 'traditional' T'giving dinner -- lasagne. :)
