Dec. 10th, 2005 02:06 pmHeh. Whaddya know? The doc was right. He told me the last time I saw him (6 weeks ago) that sometime in the next 2-3 months my back should -feel- mostly back to normal. And it does. Really. Most of the time. It's not really back to 'normal', it's just that I don't have a constant reminder ache. This is good. (It doesn't mean that I get to start running, or doing yoga. It's not *that* good.)
But it actually makes things harder, oddly enough. It's still ridiculously easy (by my standards, at least) to overdo things, and there's only a short time frame between 'um, this is about as much as you should do' and 'OK, that's just too much'. And I'm often in the middle of doing something. Like today. I was halfway through making a batch of cookies, and I got the warning twinges. And the kids are off skating with the Scouts and running errands, and I can't stop with cookies in the oven and another pan on the counter. So I have to push slightly into annoyed back territory, and hope that curling up in my nest after the cookies are done will resolve the problem.
I'm skipping Christmas at the in-laws, though. J is taking the kids over, but I'm begging off based on how I felt Thanksgiving weekend, after a much shorter trip (to my folks') with good chairs to sit in. However, I still think I'll be able to be at Confusion (the trip is not much longer than the trip to my folks' house, I won't be going there and back on the same day, it's a month after Christmas, and there are decent chairs).
Birds: seven blue jays (all counted at the same time); five crows; a pair of cardinals; at least two pairs of juncos; uncounted sparrows and finches (they move so fast, it's hard to count them...and there's always some in the rose bush out of sight); and two pairs of mourning doves. It's always a bit startling to look out when it's sunny at 15F and see a dozen finches bathing in the birdbath. J is going to make me a tray feeder for the crows and jays, so I can put out just sunflower seeds/cracked corn for them. Just spotted a pair of *bluebirds* in the birdbath. Huh. I didn't know they wintered up here....
last pan of cookies is out of the oven, time to go nest.

Date: 2005-12-15 01:12 pm (UTC)Oh my goodness! So tasty. I like the ginger ones a bunch.
A little later, when I have some more work done, then I can have the little bread.
*bounce* thanks
