So, off to the gym.
Nov. 3rd, 2005 07:49 pmWith good results. Easy(ish) workouts. First day (last Friday) I did land work (mostly because the pools were closed for cleaning). Low intensity cardio on the recumbent, usual reps on much lighter weights on the machines. No free weights, because I don't need to be trying to stabilise them. I felt pretty good that day, and while I was a little bit stiff the next day, that's only to be expected. Then Tuesday I went into the pool, and did part of the therapy drill that I'd gotten in the spring (the only positive thing that came out of the PT). I stopped well before I felt I needed to, because the water makes everything seem easy. And then you get out of the water, and get really, really drained. Felt fine Tuesday, and a little stiff on Wednesday.
Then I overdid it a little on Wednesday evening. Parent-Teacher conferences at the high school. No appointments, just teachers at tables and rows of chairs for parents to sit in while waiting. Not comfortable chairs either. So nearly two hours of sitting upright with no back support. Very sore last night, very stiff today, even though I spent most of the day in my nest with an ice pack. Some inflammation, but I'm still not supposed to take any anti-inflammatories. So more ice and Tylenol. But I feel better than I did 3-4 weeks ago, so I'm not too worried.
I got a laugh out of SR's band director. I told him that she's turning into a band geek -- she came home in mid-September and said "I wanna be section leader when I'm a senior". He said "not drum major?" "No, she wants to play." So then I told her about that, and she said "hmmm. Drum major? Maybe." Apparently, she hadn't been thinking that high.... sigh. I'm doomed.
