August natters
Aug. 24th, 2022 01:02 pmEsme is off to the shop - it's very strange not having her in the corner of the living room. She'll be ready for pickup later this week. I have gotten the first bunch of music for LCCB's fall concert. I think I'll be playing tenor in that band -- after getting it overhauled in December, I haven't played it since, so that will be nice. I don't know if I'll be playing the LCCB's Christmas concert or not, because Farmington schools are being ssssllloooowww about scheduling things, and I don't know when the FCB's holiday concert will be. Or any of them, at least not officially (I had to ask BM about the Halloween concert).
I really don't like it when Farmington is so slow, because I have things that I'd like to do, but I can't schedule weekends until I know when the FCB concerts will be. I hear that there will be a Cider Mill concert, but don't know when. On one hand, August does seem a bit early for getting fall schedules out, but on the other hand, it's less than 3 weeks until the (theoretical) first rehearsal, and six weeks after that is Halloween. And school starts next week! If they don't get info out pretty soon, there will be people who have made other commitments. I know that the UMS schedule has been out for months, and the usher schedule came out three weeks ago -- I'm supposed to pick up an actual 'substitute' shift this year, but can't do that until I know performance schedules....
I have been 'annoying' the prez of a group I do a newsletter for. She's all "put info on this shiny New Thing in the newsletter".
"I would, but I don't know what it is or why people should want to sign up for it. what's it for? what's it do? Can we wait until next year to put info in the newsletter?"
"but New Thing!"
"but why?"
She forwarded the last email I sent her (with questions like "what does it do? what will the general membership get from signing up? is there a way to access it without the app?") to the Conference prez (with my permission), who sent back, basically, "still in Beta, not ready to release to general membership". Ha! Called it. It's weird, being the voice of reason.
