Well, that was..... uncomfortable.

Went to outpatient surgery today for a epidural steroid injection. Ow. Well, not quite. It didn't really hurt at the time, although it was plenty uncomfortable (spinal injections usually are, they tell me[*]).
Now it hurts. From about mid thigh down to sleepy feet, and a sharp pain in the back from the needles [**]. It all makes sense, if you think about it. 10cc of steroid (+lidocaine (+the contrast agent)) injected into the spinal canal is going to mess up the fluid balance and pressure for a day or two. Doesn't make it any more comfortable, though. And my preferred recliner doesn't recline flat enough, so I need to be in the leather one, which isn't (usually) as comfortable as the upholstered one. sigh.
I really hope this works, and works well. I don't want to have done this for nothing. I won't know for at least a week. 7-10 days for the steroid's effects (if any) to be noticeable.
[*]I don't remember getting the spinal for either one of the kids....back labor is just no fun, and I didn't notice the additional discomfort of those shots.
[**] He does the spinal injections under a fluoroscope, so he can see exactly where the needle is when he starts the actual injection. Good idea, except it means that there's two injections.
