It's raining again, and not the summer storm type, but the fall 'currently raining, has just stopped, or will start again soon' rainfall that nets half an inch of water over the course of the afternoon. I did get into one garden this morning before the rain started. Just, as I was putting the tools away as it was beginning to rain. (J would have just left the tools out in the rain, but I've been trained better than that.) Good thing I didn't hang the laundry out this AM....

Last weekend was the community fair which I have managed to avoid for yet another year -- went a lot when the kids were in school, but they stopped wanting to go about the time they graduated, and their friends weren't showing critters anymore. There are people who really like it, but I've never seen the charm. Well, other than the horse & tractor pulls that are early in the week, and I forget about until they're done.

After last week's deluge (and a lesser deluge on Wednesday), I did get into the milkweed garden and removed a few stems that had completely disassociated themselves from the root system, but the gardens were pretty wet until the weekend, at which point I went up front and worked on the bed by the forsythia. Today, I did some weeding and tree pulling in the peony patch. I need to read up on what to do for peonies with powdery mildew. I also need to get into the coneflower bed up front and pull out some of the volunteer phlox -- it's very pretty, and in all the shades from bright magenta to white, but there's just too much of it. I'll wait a few more days, though, as I need to walk into that garden, and it was still wet this morning before the rain.
