The USDA tells me that beautyberries are Zone 6, and we're fairly solidly into Zone 5, and even with the warmer winters we've been getting I think it's still a bit too cold here for them.
I really should do some research (or even ask at the nursery), as so far I've just been going off of what I remember from conversations with my dad and what I've got growing in the yard. The advantage to the wegeila is that I won't be adding something else to that visual space, as there's already one out by the pond.
