So, we had this invite to a wedding in Da Yoop (many of you were also invited). I thought about going, really I did, but then I looked at the schedule and realised that DB had TKD Friday night, SR has a concert Monday night and I have last-rehearsal-before-a-concert Monday night, and decided that we really didn't want to tempt the weather gods too much.
Apparently, that was a good idea. The front end in the van broke yesterday when I was running errands. I mean, really broke, as in 'she don't move no more' broke. Tow truck dude and J both think it's just a broken stub shaft. Which is good, because it'll be a reasonably inexpensive fix. It's also weird, because it just -broke-. No warning, no nothing. A couple of lurches while braking, then no go. Fortunately, I was only in Ypsi Township, rather than halfway to Lansing, or halfway between Lansing and Mackinac. Or halfway to rehearsal in Farmington.
So the van is at the dealer, waiting for the shop guys to show up Monday and take a look at it. And I have to figure out how to get SR to a concert in Chelsea at 6:30 and me to a rehearsal in Farmington at 7:15 and the boys to the concert at 8. It's called 'borrow a car from a friend'. The hardest part, I think, will be getting my sax out of the car -- I still don't bend over and lift very well; and I'm really not comfortable in the car. Sitting in it for too long makes my back stiff and creaky, and adding that to the clammy weather.... I hope we get the van back by next week -- getting the bari out will be even harder.
