That was fun.

Sort of. I am reminded that, yes indeedy, it has been nearly 3 years since I played saxophone. And that I hate sight reading. And that, actually, the 3rd or 4th time through is when I have the most trouble with a new piece, not the first time. And that wind and musicians don't mix worth a darn. Fortunately, no musicians or music got wet. (Z dipped his horn in the lake, but he did that on purpose. SR tells me that Z is weird, even for a saxophone player.)
(SR was part of a group of about a dozen CHS band members who got together to play patriotic music at a party on a lake. I half jokingly said that I could play tenor, and the director took me up on it. So there I was at rehearsal yesterday sight reading music that nearly everyone else had worked on for weeks (the parade music from the last couple of Memorial Day parades).)
So now the rough spot on the inside of my lower lip is back and the outside is a little sore. I've discovered that one of the mouthpieces that I got with the new horn doesn't match my current level of playing, so it's been shelved until I get back into decent playing shape. I have remembered how nice it is to play a decent horn with a group. And my back is stiff and a little inflamed, even though I tried really hard to sit up straight while I played, and SR was very good about carrying my horn so I didn't have to carry it down the hill to the lake.
