competency is its own punishment, still.
Mar. 31st, 2023 04:11 pmhave caught up with AV things at "main" job. So now DC and I have turned our attention to walking NewClerk in next township thru her very first election. She is *soo* far behind that we're not sure she'll be able to catch up.
F'rex, today DC is over with her, running the preliminary accuracy test (in which one makes sure that the ballots one has will work properly in the tabulators one has. They should, but they come from different sources (as they ought!), and Trust but Verify is the correct response. There has been at least one instance of them not working correctly in recent memory, so.....) According to the MI Bureau of Elections, the first wave of AV ballots should have been mailed by _last_ Thursday (Mar 23). But one cannot send out ballots until the accuracy test has been completed *correctly*. NewClerk will be lucky to get the first wave of AV ballots out by next week.
I spent three hours with NC yesterday, filing AV applications, and walking them through the process of approving applications, sending out ballots, and receiving ballots back. I'd have preferred to be checking the applications against the online database at the same time, but she didn't have her login info with her and her deputy was still doing the first stage training. I don't have login credentials for that jurisdiction, so....
In other news, I picked up my new music glasses today, and I think they'll work. Won't know for sure until Monday, though. The optician at the shop says that they go against everything she's learned about fitting bifocals. :) (She's pretty sure that I know what I'm asking for, so she really didn't have a problem with it, but it's still very odd.)
