timing is everything....
Aug. 30th, 2022 03:05 pmthree weeks ago Thursday, we had a tree service come in and take out the four 90' tall cottonwoods in the yard. Last night, we got hit by a pretty bad windstorm -- the willow tree looked like the Whomping Willow! -- and I didn't have to spend half my day picking up cottonwood branches from our yard and the neighbor's yard. I didn't get off with *no* branches to pick up, of course, but the cottonwoods usually accounted for well over 2/3 of the branches. So that was nice. :)
the wind and ensuing rain did a number on a lot of things in the garden. I've got most of a day's work left, just cleaning that up. I picked up the worst of the branches, but I had to do the grocery run -- last week was move-in week in A2, and the best way to deal with that is to not go there. By this time, most of the parents have gone home, and most students are in classes. I still have not braved CostCo or the mall stores.... OTOH, the CostCo in Brighton is technically closer, and if I don't need to go anywhere else in A2/Ypsi, it's a better choice.
Still waiting on rehearsal/concert info from the FCB. Livingston's first rehearsal is next week. It will be interesting to see how well the tenor plays, now that it's been tuned up properly, instead of just "fix it so it's playable, please". Esme is back from the shop -- just a few adjustments needed this time. If I take her in every year or so, nothing really gets way far out of alignment, and loose pads/corks can be replaced before they fall out. Not sure when I'll be getting her out, though, as Livingston needs me on tenor at least for the first two concerts.
