Feb. 25th, 2022 12:53 pmThe weather has followed the same pattern for the last two weeks.... Warm and melty, even rainy, Tuesday and Wednesday, windy and chilling on Thursday, with shovelling amounts of snow in the morning on Friday.
We shoveled over three inches of fluff this morning. Could have used a broom for the porch, but the driveway required a shovel. And just like last week, the driveway is almost entirely dry, four hours after we finished shoveling, even though it's been mostly cloudy and chilly.
The standing water from last week's melt has mostly gone away -- either run off into the watershed, soaked into the slowly thawing ground, or evaporated. One of the neighbors was taking advantage of the thick ice in the field, and teaching his kids how to handle a snowmobile on ice. Ji was not aware of this endeavor until he went outside. He did *not* approve, and wanted to come in very soon -- he's not a fan of engines in the field, whether on tractors or snowmobiles or four-wheelers....
The standing water in the basement from Wednesday's flood is soaked into the concrete or evaporated. The china has been removed from the cardboard boxes and dried. (*that* was a flashback! I spent many an hour drying that china when I was a kid.) Waiting on packing paper (couldn't find it locally) but have good plastic boxes. I just need to not fill them full or they'll be too heavy. The boxes the china was packed in were from a wine distributor in Taylor that went out of business 25 years ago. They were in the basement in the house on King Road when Sis & Mum were packing. Now they're in the recycling bin at the transfer station....
Livingston Band concert this Sunday. It's unclear whether J will be there or not -- K is down for medical stuff, and E will be coming in on Sunday, and J may decide that he wants to see them more....
