A Thing I Did Not Know....
Sep. 15th, 2014 04:30 pmuntil the letter arrived on Saturday. That problem GM had with the ignition switch in mid 2000s small cars? The one where the car can slip out of "run" during impact, thus making braking/steering much more difficult, and/or rendering the airbags non-functional? That one? It actually applies to SR's car, despite the fact no article I read mentioned either the Malibu *or* the Classic as an involved vehicle. I didn't think it was included in the subset "GM small cars" because in every metric (bar engine power) it's bigger than my car, which is not a "small car".
And do you know what they're doing to "fix" it? Snapping a new key end with a smaller hole over the existing key end, providing a key ring with a smaller loop, and telling us not to put too many things on the keyring. And reminding us to always buy replacement keys from the dealer.
