Apr. 15th, 2013 11:21 amIt's been early spring in Michigan, by which I mean it's either too cold or too wet (or both) to work outside. It's supposed to be 65F today, and we had snow pellets accumulating yesterday. So we'll probably get the thunderstorms they're predicting.
Jiji is annoyed by our unwillingness to turn on the heat outside, or the sunbeam inside, and is currently sitting by the french doors in the den, sulking. Anna has a new perch upstairs in DB's room, and has been hanging out there.
There are daffodils budding in the NW flowerbed, and some hyacinth buds showing in the E bed. The oaks still have last fall's leaves. The deer have nibbled on some of the iris in the side bed. I have no idea why they left the other iris alone. The giant crocuses have been blooming -- they run a couple of weeks behind the standard crocuses when they're in the same bed. The yellow crocuses out by the well point popped out and bloomed in a couple of days -- I looked one day, and there were tiny shoots of green, and the next time I looked there were about three dozen yellow flowers. There is a leak in the rill, but it's not a new one -- the patch J put in last fall gave way sometime during the winter. Not running the pump at the moment, although it may soon be time to put a fountainhead on the pump so that we'll get some circulation/aeration in the pond. (See above note about being too cold to work outside, and certainly too cold to patch pondliner.)
