Cast count =3
Feb. 26th, 2008 09:01 pmDB went in to the ortho again today. They removed the cast and then took him down to the in-office digital Xray unit for more pictures. While the doc was looking at them, the nurse came in and set out cast tape and an air-cast, as she didn't know what the verdict was going to be. The verdict, after close examination of the Xray, was "cast for another two weeks" (lime green this time). There was an unexpected area of healing bone on the Xray, which indicated a hairline fracture that didn't show on any of the prior Xrays. Doc says it was probably a planar crack across the fibula that never separated; and the only reason they saw it this time is that this set of Xrays was done without the fiberglass cast. The big crack is almost completely healed, and it looks as though the growth plate is unaffected. So another two weeks in a cast, then probably into shoes with some crutches for backup, and off to PT. Will be interesting to see if DB gets any of the therapists I've had.
When I went out today to get the kids, I cleared four inches of compacted snow off the van, which means that we probably got about six inches of snow fall.
