There's a foot of snow packed up against the french doors, and the dog will not go out those doors (she'll come in, though). We got more than a foot of snow, although it's hard to tell exactly how much as it blew around so much. The mesh finch feeder was blown full of snow -- after the snow stopped falling, and the wind kept blowing, most of the snow blew out of the feeder.
Church was entirely cancelled today. The minister called the house last night while SR and I were off at a concert and asked J to post/mail a notice of potential cancellation, with final decision made by 8am. With only 'major' roads in the county plowed and the snow still falling and blowing, the decision was made to cancel. We're only in charge of the 'net connections. I really hope that somebody thought to contact the people not on the mailing list and tell them that church was cancelled. I have no idea when (or if) we're going to do the music we'd been working on for Music Sunday (traditionally, a day the minister gets off except for the pastoral and offertory prayers, unless s/he chooses to perform). I need to call the pianist, and find out if she and I are still doing the piece we'd planned for the 23d, or if we're going to do the clar/flute/flute trio we'd been working on.
There's a decent chance the kids will not have school tomorrow, as many of the back roads may not be bus passable by 5am (when the road testers go out and see what the roads are like.) SR is supposed to have a Winter Concert tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. I suppose that if the concert is cancelled I'll actually go to FCB rehearsal (there's a concert in January!).
