What a week....
Mar. 2nd, 2007 09:22 pmDaBoy was home sick (a nasty cold) for three days. I managed to get out and run errands on Wednesday evening after J came home. This was a good thing, since Thursday and Friday were both the kind of weather that makes my back extremely unhappy -- it was bad enough just staying inside.
I found out at rehearsal on Monday that I was allowed to let the bari 'growl' on the bass line on one piece. I like doing that, and I don't get to do it very often. I'm usually trying to blend the sound with that of the low brass, or emulate a bassoon, and that means keep the reedy saxophone edge down. But he wants edge. Edge he'll get ;).
It turns out that I (probably) won't have a solo on April 1. This is good -- I don't need anything else to do that weekend. I'm still singing, but it's something we've done before, although I'm now singing the soprano line (I sang the alto line the last time). And I'm not going to be the song leader that weekend, as BR's schedule has changed and she will be in town that day.
I ripped out the sweater I was working on at Cap, and have started it over on smaller needles. Sigh. I got caught by speed and a bumpy cotton yarn. I occasionally have a problem with losing tension on long rows, especially with bumpy yarn. For some reason, it's not a problem when I'm knitting tubes, though. I barely made gauge on the swatch in the first place, and doing a really large piece loosened it up enough that the best option was "rip it out", even though I was down to the waist shaping.
One of the thistle feeders is out of commission -- it's got a snap in lid, and the wind banged it around enough that the lid popped out. SR wasn't able to find it in a quick survey of the backyard, so who knows where it is.
