Not so silly birdy...
Mar. 16th, 2006 07:56 amI looked out this morning and saw a crow sidestepping and sauntering toward the birdfeeder. It looked as though he was trying to get to the birdfeeder without scaring off the other, smaller, birds who were at the other feeders. And then I saw the dog loping around the corner of the house. (Casey loves to chase crows, and the crows will tease her.) There were a couple of crows out in the field, and I wonder if the crow in the yard was hoping that Casey wouldn't see him and he'd be able to get some corn before he got chased off. Crows are pretty smart, but... I don't remember ever seeing a crow saunter before. It was kind of neat.
Happy St Urho's Day! Are you wearing purple? (Me either. Nor are the kids. DB doesn't have any purple, and SR is doing the 'native guide' thing for Orchestra Festival and doesn't want to wear a purple t-shirt.)
(Who? Wha? St Urho is the patron saint of Finland. The legend tells us that he drove the grasshoppers out of the (pre-glacial) Finnish vinyards.)
