Another outing!
Aug. 24th, 2005 11:44 amWheee!
This time we actually did useful things. SR needed to be picked up from swim practice, so we started at the pool. DB needed new shoes, so off to Target. J wanted a monitor and a laptop desk so he can switch between his laptops (and get rid of the desktop machine-and the desk it's on), so we went to OfficeMax. SR needed reeds, and wanted a new neckstrap, and the music store is right next to OfficeMax. Then a stop at Meijer to get the few things that the local grocer doesn't have, then home. Now I need a nap. :)
Actually, I'm doing pretty well, although I probably _will_ spend the afternoon reclining. I've been walking at home, but this was my first expedition. It was cool enough that I couldn't wear my sandals, so I had to wear socks. It's kind of tricky to put socks on when you can't bend your back. But I managed. (now I have to take them off!)

Date: 2005-08-24 12:49 pm (UTC)The coolest part is, as she said on the way home, even though she's only 3 weeks out of major back surgery, she went way farther than she could have before the surgery without seriously limping most of the way (no limping today!). So already it counts as a success. Almost certainly she will never regain all of what was lost, but is already better than before surgery, now she mainly needs her strength and endurance back, which should just be a matter of time.
Surgery
Date: 2005-08-25 03:46 am (UTC)It sounds like a real ordeal. Believe me I know what it's like since I've broken my back, neck and ankle. It sounds like you doing good so keep up the good work with your walking.
Get well soon. It sounds like John is taking good care of you!!!
