yeah, it's February

There are crocuses and snowdrops budding in the side garden (next to the house), and they're telling us we're going to get 6-10 inches of snow Wednesday-Thursday. whee!

I saw a few little things coming up in the E garden as well, but they're just little green spikes at the moment so it's hard to tell what they are, and there are a lot of different bulb plants out there.

The NE bed needs to have leaves removed from it before things get too tall (there's a fairly solid blanket, and it will stifle the sprouts a bit), but I'll wait until the snow melts (next week, probably) -- don't want to damage the sprouting things too badly.

There was a small flock of grackles poking across the front yard yesterday afternoon.

While I won't object to not having to deal with rain and snow, record-high temperatures and hot weather were less than ideal for crossing California, Arizona, and into New Mexico last week - and Albuquerque is on the western edge of a nasty winter storm (albeit my parent's house seems to just be overcast this morning.
