Natter, to include band & garden
DB and crew got a I at festival. There were a lot of places where they got sloppy, but even with that they looked good. It helps that the scoring is highly weighted toward total effect, and even when they're sloppy it still looks pretty good. There's a spot where the line of sousaphones is supposed to swagger, and only four of the six do it. Jokingly, I told DB that T5 should *not* swagger, and then it looks like a feature not a bug. I don't know if they'll do that or not, and I won't know until next week, as this week's game is Homecoming with a modified show.
We all got to see the lunar eclipse this morning -- the sun got too bright to see just about the same time as the moon was fully occluded, and just before it set fully. :)
My left quadriceps muscle is being very sore and twangy today. I'm quite pleased that I *didn't* need to get groceries today. I suspect that Monday's excursion which included sitting on cold wet bleachers and then going to rehearsal in a cold bandroom started something and then weeding yesterday didn't help. I finally decided I'd had enough of the weeds overgrowing the garden by the side door -- J mulched it a bit earlier this summer, but even with that it still needs to be weeded -- and spent a couple of hours doing that. Some of the weeds had quite established root systems, and fought back.
It was cold in the HHS bandroom on Monday, and I went into it with a cold horn, as she'd been in the car for three hours before I got to rehearsal. Yeah, I wasn't in tune at all. Then again, JW and CA were having similar troubles, so the bass line was just a bit more out of whack than usual.
No garden today. I hope garden tomorrow. I need to cut back the bleeding hearts and the blanketflower.
